London Millharbour planned to be a new, phased mixed-use
development located in the Millennium Quarter, just south of
Canary Wharf in the Docklands of East London. The three
building complex includes 753,000 square feet of office space,
with 28,000 square feet of ground floor retail space.
Pembroke envisions London Millharbour as the
catalyst for regeneration of a largely undervalued area of
London. This landmark development is situated in the
Millennium Quarter, a new business district that includes 50
acres of land immediately south of Canary Wharf. Consistent
with our philosophy, Pembroke’s vision for this site extends
beyond the project itself and into the surrounding area. Our
Millharbour project will feature exciting new architecture and
much needed facilities that will help promote confidence in
this emerging urban quarter.
 Because the
property is situated in a developing area, Pembroke
encountered challenges unique to a nascent market. We led a
consortium of developers in an innovative public/private
process, which involved master planning the Millennium
Quarter. The group was particularly concerned with redressing
infrastructure issues, such as transportation, to ensure the
area lived up to its potential. For example, the consortium
helped improve access to transit with the construction of a
pedestrian bridge with upgrades to the Docklands Light Rail
station.
Designed by renowned UK architects Hopkins &
Partners, London Millharbour’s main building will establish a
retail presence along the main pedestrian street and provide a
visual link to pedestrians coming from the subway and
Docklands Light Rail. The elegant, glass-clad building
provides office space at the upper levels and will support
retail uses and bring life to the street. As a landmark
development in an emerging market, London Millharbour’s
modern, elegant, and highly visible buildings will set an
example for the kind of quality development the area hopes to
attract.
